Intro

oooooo hello, everyone!

so K and i were hiking last weekend, and as i slid down half of the Blue Hills on my bum, i thought to myself, i ought to blog about this.  not because i am some kind of amazing athlete (i'm not) or because i am doing unbelievable feats of stamina (only small ones) or because i am living some kind of enviable life (not even close), but because i'm wearing a goddamned skirt while attempting to do so. 

my skirt got awfully muddy last weekend, as it was raining on our hike.  it was also my first hike with a 20lb pack on my back.  but thank god i had my hiking skirt so i didn't look ridiculous. 

yes i have a hiking skirt.  i also have a running skirt.  and walking skirts and work skirts and special test-taking skirts and sweatshirt skirts.  don't get me wrong, i am a big fan of pants, too.  i just really like doing athletic things in skirts.  here are some of the reasons:

1.  ventilation
2.  versatility (so i don't have to change immediately)
3.  adorableness
4.  freedom of movement
5.  i swear it makes my legs look leaner, longer, and overall more defined. 

that last one might be my biggest reason. 

there are many other reasons to sing the virtues of running skirts, but i have to save something for later posts. 

for now, let me say that i ran three miles today . . .

 . . . and i did it in a skirt!
